Howdy my name is Canyon, Like the Grand Canyon

Welcome to my place to share my experiences

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas; always competing in some kind of sport from soccer to rock climbing at the local climbing gym but riding was never on my radar. My parents and I moved to Austin, Texas when I was eighteen years old. The living situation set up perfectly for me to start riding. After a few months, I did my first race and I was hooked. My riding went from 2 times a week to 4 or 5 times a week. My new friends were much faster than I was which improved my riding drastically in a short amount of time. I went on to win the cat 2 Texas State Championship in 2014 and cat 1 in 2015. I also traveled to Mammoth, California in 2015 to compete in my first National Championship. This would take riding from something important to something that consumed my thinking and daily life. In 2016, I returned and won the 19-29 short track National Title. After this, college took president over my riding and I had to hold back on training until I finished my eduction. My plan was to put everything into my racing after college and in May 2020 I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Geology Resource Management and a minor in Business. Since then I have been chasing my dream.
